I don’t like January. It is usually the coldest most miserable month of the year. There is only one reason I like it. My oldest son was born on the 29th. He will be 35 this year.
It started snowing this morning and we’ve gotten about three inches of the stuff. Ugh. The temperature is supposed to bottom out tonight and the wind will blow about 40 miles an hour and the snow will blow around causing blizzard-like conditions. What fun (not). This is supposed to be the coldest week so far this winter and my place of employment is moving to a new building this week. Wouldn’t you know it. We are allowed to wear jeans, which will help, but come on, it is going to be brutal out there. So, I don’t like January (except as mentioned before).
My grandson is turning into a little terrorist. I adore him, there’s no one I love more than him, but he really needs to be taken in tow and made to mind. I am going to try harder to enforce that at my house. It is hard when I am sitting and holding his baby sister and he acts up and he knows I have to put her down before I can deal with him and he takes advantage of that fact. Last night he hit me in the stomach and I thought, “Enough of this crap!” He will not be allowed to get away with that. Sometimes I watch “Supernanny” and there are kids that cuss at their parents, hit and kick and bite them, throw things at them, things I find to be intolerable and I will not allow it where I’m concerned. I only gave him a swat and told him very sternly that he’s not to hit me, but I think time-outs hurt him worse than anything so that is going to be my method of discipline. He must learn.
He can turn around and be so sweet. Later on he came over to me and crawled up on my lap and gave me a big hug. Then he went to my youngest son and gave him a hug. Then he crawled up on the couch and fell asleep sitting up. How I love that little monster. He owns my heart for sure. His baby sister is no slouch either. She is so incredibly sweet. She was all smiley and sweet and then she fell asleep in my arms last night. What a precious little darling she is. She’s so sweet and good-natured, she’s very easy to love.
Tonight I’m going to run a quick errand before I go home but then I am going in to hibernate for the rest of the night. Wish it could be until the weather warms up a bit, but of course that is impossible.
I need to go to Kohl’s and look for some new jeans, but I probably won’t make it this week. I don’t want them badly enough to brave the weather. I am wearing a new pair today. I got them at Four Seasons and they are incredibly comfortable. They fit really nicely too. They should, I paid more for them than I’ve ever paid for a pair of jeans in my life. Sheesh, you’d think I was rich or something. But my son gave me some money for Christmas, so that is how I justify it.
I found out last week that the Smothers Brothers are coming to the Riverside Casino on March 28. I’m pretty sure I’m going and I’m so excited about it. The Smothers Brothers with guest star the Yo-Yo Man! I can’t wait. I watched their show in the 60s and then I watched it later when they introduced the Yo-Yo man. I love their humor. It will be a real treat to get to see them perform. My brother said he saw them in Florida and they were a riot. It will be great.
